About

‘In ancient Greece, wealthy men often gathered for decadent banquets called symposia. Not only an occasion for thinking and philosophizing, the symposium was also a place for enjoying women, wine, and song.’

Do you know the history behind the wine in your glass? Do you want to know whether it’s worth it to upscale that vodka in your cocktail?

This is Symposiia

WineSelfie_3

Trained bartender, aspiring wine specialist, amateur mixologist, and passionate enthusiast of wine, beer and spirits. Elie Thawn had the idea for the Symposiia podcast in August 2017, after starting business school. Based in the USA on the west coast, Elie loves learning everything there is to know about wine, beer, spirits, and cocktails. She has been fascinated by the artistry, business, and history of drinking since she turned legal drinking age and went to bartending school during her first spring break as a 21-year old. In her free time, she likes to cook, watch movies, plan themed dinner parties, and hang out with her pug Mojito.
